What happens if, I for some reason, do not have GTIN as the item number on my products, will I be disqualified and excluded from the market?

As it is an industry requirement that GTIN should be used as an item number, it will be one of many requirements in tender documents and in agreements.

It is a matter of negotiation and impact assessment, that will determine whether one chooses another supplier in the individual case. Not being able to use GTIN to search for and identify products in different databases can entail large costs at several stages in the supply chain, which of course must be taken into account.

If you do not have a GTIN, the consequence can also be that it is difficult to make your products visible in the market.
