My places

Make sure your trading partners have your accurate contact details and contribute to increased traceability at the same time. Our My places service allows you to share basic information about your GLNs (Global Location Number) with your partners in real time.

GLNs registered in My places become searchable in the global search service Verified by GS1, giving your stakeholders access to updated contact information.

What is My places?

My places is a web-based service where you can create, structure and share basic information about your GLNs. In My places you can link each GLN to information such as GLN type, address and contact details, and show the relationship between your different GLNs. This allows you to communicate more effeciently with your trading partners.

The service is included in the GS1 Company Prefix subscription from GS1 Sweden, and you can access it when you are logged in to MyGS1.

GLN types

To make it clear to you and your stakeholders what a specific GLN refers to, they are classified into five different GLN types. You specify the type when you create your GLN record.

  • Legal entity
    A company, government agency, or other organization that can enter into a contract and be a party in a court of law.

  • Department
    A specific function within an organization, such as reception or invoice.

  • Physical location
    A concrete location that can be referred to by an address or coordinates, such as a shop or warehouse.

  • Digital location
    An electronic location used for communication between different systems, such as an EDI gateway or IP address.

  • Mobile location
    A physical location that is expected to move, such as a cargo ship, a food truck or a blood bus.

Who uses My places?

Suppliers and retailers use My places to manage and structure the information about a GLN. The service helps you ensure that you and your business partners always have access to each other’s accurate and up-to-date contact information, facilitating deliveries and invoicing.

If you need to share extended amounts of party and location information, we have the additional service Directory. In addition to what is included in My places, you can add transport information and share opening hours.

The GLN information you enter in My places becomes searchable in the global Verified by GS1 service.

Frequently asked questions

My places is a service for sharing GLN information between stakeholders, and is include in your GS1 Company Prefix licence. With the Directory add-on contract, you can also add additional logistical information about a location, such as transport restrictions and opening hours.

The GLNs you create and register in My places are classified into GLN types. You choose the GLN type depending on the type of party or location you want to identify. There are five GLN types:

Yes, you can import your GLNs by using Excel templates that you can download from My places.

When you register the GLN in My Places, the information is shared with the global database GS1 Registry Platform. This makes them searchable in Verified by GS1 and allows your stakeholders to access the information you have enriched your GLN with.
