No – there is no contradiction between BEAst and GTIN. On the contrary – in BEAst messaging standards, GTIN has been included as a trade item identifier by several others, for many years. What the industry has decided is that GTIN should be mandatory as a trade item identifier, but that other trade item numbers may be available as a supplement if needed.
