Standards in use
The most common standards in the grocery trade are GTIN for identification of products and outer packaging and SSCC for pallets. You will need the standards to mark the product, packaging or pallet in the next step with barcodes such as EAN–13, ITF-14 and GS1-128. RFID is also widely used in the grocery trade to simplify inventory and similar processes.
