ISO has released a new standard of which GS1 Digital Link is a part. The standard is called ISO/IEC 18975:2024 and describes methods for combining globally unique identifiers with URLs, facilitating the link between the physical object and its digital information.
Today, exactly 50 years after the first barcode scan, Swedish industry media is highlighting that 22 leaders from some of the world’s largest consumer goods companies have signed a joint statement for the industry’s introduction of QR codes powered by GS1 standards. ​
