What is a check digit?

The check digit is the final digit in GTIN, GLN and a selection of other codes. Check digits are generated through the service Check Digit Calculator. The number is calculated by an algorithm and becomes different depending on what numbers the company prefix and serial number consists of.

You can also use the web service Generate Numbers to help you develop GTIN-13, GTIN-14, GLN and SSCC. The service creates numbers including the check digit.
