Upcoming release: GDSN Warning

In May 2024, we will make an improvement for those who send and receive trade item information via the Global Data Synchronization Network (GDSN). This implements a new category of validation rules: a GDSN Warning.

GDSN Warning is an automatic validation of trade item information. It informs about less critical data quality issues without stopping the workflow. This means that the supplier will receive a note if there are problems with the information added but it still reaches the recipient.

What does this mean for you as a solution provider?

The implementation requires changes to the technical notice (CIC) and its management. GS1 Sweden will hold information meetings in the latter part of January. A separate invitation to these will be issued later.

Difference between validation rule and GDSN Warning

Today, validation rules are in place to validate your data and inform about critical data quality issues. If critical problems are detected, your data will not reach the recipient. However, with GDSN Warning, information flagged by the system for less critical data quality issues is not stopped, but forwarded to the recipient.

Important dates for you to keep track of

GDSN Warning will be deployed on May 18, 2024, in connection with the upcoming release of GDSN 3.1.27. GS1 Sweden will provide more detailed information in January.
