Inter IKEA Group Joins Global GS1 Management Board to Drive Product Data Standards and Traceability

GS1 Sweden welcomes Inter IKEA Group’s election to the global GS1 Management Board, a significant step in advancing standardisation and supply chain transparency.

GS1 Sweden is pleased to share that Inter IKEA Group has been elected to the global GS1 Management Board. This development marks a deepening of the long-standing collaboration between the two organisations and highlights the growing importance of global standards for product data and traceability.

Inter IKEA Group, representing the full IKEA franchise system, has worked with GS1 standards for over 15 years, particularly in the area of pallet identification. With this new board position, the company aims to expand the use of standardised product identification across its operations, supporting efficiency, traceability, and sustainable growth in a rapidly evolving retail landscape. Ultimately, these efforts are designed to benefit consumers by enabling lower prices, improved product availability, and greater transparency.

– This is about taking another step on our journey to make IKEA better. By working in a more standardised way with data, we can make our value chain simpler, more transparent and more efficient, said Jon Abrahamsson Ring, CEO of Inter IKEA Group. When we improve how we manage and share product data, we reduce complexity and lower costs – and that means we can help even more of the many people all around the world.
