On 15 November, GS1 Trade Item Information and the Global Data Synchronization Network (GDSN) will be updated to version 3.1.33.
This is a minor update focused on enabling additional data sharing for animal feed and packaging materials, as well as validation rules related to, among other things, the EU Deforestation Regulation.
New terms for animal feed
New terms to share information about the animal’s size and life stage:
- T4424 Animal target size code
- T4425 Feed life stage code
New term for packaging materials
A new term to indicate whether a packaging component is intended for food contact, thereby supporting reporting requirements under the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR):
- T4426 Is packaging element intended for food contact
Validation rules
To improve data quality and ensure accurate information management, GS1 Sweden has updated and introduced new validation rules in the following areas:
Taxes and fees
Validation rules for VAT information have been updated due to an error in the cardinality of the Tax Information class. It was previously set to 1…1 but has now been changed to 1…*. To ensure the class is not repeated, a review of existing rules was conducted. This has resulted in the introduction of new rules, adjustments to some, and removal of others.
Returnable packaging for alcoholic beverages
A validation rule has been introduced requiring that items with an alcohol content of ≥ 3.5% and marked as returnable packaging must have the correct VAT code (25%) specified on the deposit code.
Warnings related to regulations and information requirements
To ensure that the product information standard aligns with the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR), new validation rules have been introduced as warnings. These rules apply to products with certain customs codes and intended for specific geographic markets.
Country of manufacture and Intrastat have been identified as information that must be provided for all items. To meet this requirement, two warnings are introduced as a temporary solution until Sweden as a target market is covered by global rules 1692 and 598.
