Does your organization need to work with traceability in the value chain? This spring, GS1 Sweden is publishing a practical framework for implementing traceability solutions using GS1 standards. The framework is intended to strengthen the ability of companies that want to create processes and ways of working to exchange data through a common business language. The impact? Better compliance, efficiency and traceability. <\/strong> <\/p>\n\n

Many companies are currently in need of sharing standardized traceability data. A strong driver is new EU directives and sustainability requirements such as EUDR and ESPR, but also their own business needs such as supply chain security, consumer demands and efficiency and digitalization goals. <\/p>\n\n

A framework for standardized traceability solutions <\/h2>\n\n

In May 2025, GS1 Sweden will release an open framework for implementing traceability solutions using GS1 standards. The framework is the final product of the Ability to Trace collaborative project and is based on the GS1 TraceWay traceability methodology and GS1 standards. The project’s objectives are validated against the EUDR. The initiative aims to create the conditions for traceable value chains and thus strengthen the ability of companies to meet new information requirements and meet their own business needs. <\/p>\n\n

Guiding processes and practices for operations, data management and organization help suppliers and retailers, regardless of industry and size, to ensure effective traceability by exchanging data in a common digital business language. It enables consistent communication within traceability systems and between suppliers, retailers and other parties. <\/p>\n\n

Ability to Trace is run by GS1 Sweden and partners in the project are Arvid Nordquist HAB and ICA Sverige AB. There is also a reference group linked to the project. <\/p>\n\n
