One challenge is that whatever is transported, regardless of the type of transport vehicle and regardless of whether the transport takes place between or within countries, Swedish companies need to be able to work with standards and processes that work both in Sweden and internationally. In addition, there are increasing demands for transport to take place in a sustainable way in order to minimize the negative impact on the environment and human health.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
By identifying, capturing and sharing information about the movement of products, using digitized business processes, both better interaction between parties in the transport chain and a more efficient and sustainable logistics is created. GS1 is working towards achieving full transparency in real time throughout the supply chain from producer to consumer regardless of mode of transport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The business process for Transport Flow<\/a> is a solution for exchanging business information electronically. The transport flow is used between transport buyers and transporters to exchange information in connection with a transport assignment. The business process supports intermodal transport, when several ways of transport, such as train, truck and ferry, are combined to transport the goods. The flow of transport is also adapted for transports across country boarders..<\/p>\n\n\n\n With increased e-commerce and changing purchasing behavior, there is an increasing need for more deliveries, small shipments and increased demands on city logistics. This must be done at the lowest possible cost while meeting the requirements of sustainability through all modes of transport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In order to make it easier for the transport sector to meet these requirements, GS1, together with the industry, has developed standards to facilitate transport purchases and simplify the traceability of goods throughout the transport chain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Today, several actors are involved in rail transports, which means that the industry needs to make it easier for the different parties to interact with each other and create common cost effective solutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Swedish Transport Administration has built an infrastructure around our railways where RFID <\/a>technology is used. Currently, over 200 readers are installed around Sweden and similar developments are taking place in many European countries.
