It is a number used to identify a specific location, a company or parties to business transactions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Do you need to identify a location or a company? Then you need a <a href=\"https:\/\/gs1.se\/en\/standards-and-services\/global-location-number-gln\/\" data-type=\"product\" data-id=\"5068\">GLN <\/a>(Global Location Number). It is a location number used to identify specific locations and parties such as;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>companies and legal entities<\/strong> <br><em>(for example: entire companies; subsidiaries or divisions of a company, )<\/em><br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>physical locations <\/strong><br><em>(for example: delivery location in a store, storage place, manufacturing facility, distribution center, an operating room etc.) <\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>functions within companies<\/strong><br><em>(example: invoice recipient, payee, purchasing function)<\/em><br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>digital locations <\/strong><br><em>(for example: ERP system)<\/em><br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>mobile locations<\/strong><br><em>(for example: ambulance, food truck, boat)<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-1-preparations\">1. Preparations<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>You create a GLN by <a data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"6205\" href=\"https:\/\/gs1.se\/en\/guides\/join-gs1-sweden\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">becoming a customer to GS1.<\/a> Select <a data-type=\"product\" data-id=\"3596\" href=\"https:\/\/gs1.se\/en\/standards-and-services\/gs1-company-prefix\/\">GS1 Company Prefix<\/a> to identify multiple locations and <em>single numbers<\/em> in case you only need to identify one single location.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-2-create-gln\">2. This number you decide yourself. It could be from 000-999. We recommend numbering in order of sequence. That is, 001,002,003 and so on. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:19px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n<section class=\"section-facts p-3 mb-5 mt-4 gs1-background-color-ui-1 ml-n3 mr-n3\">\n\n  <div class=\"row\">\n    <div class=\"col mb-3\">\n      <h3><\/h3>\n      <p><p>When you subscribe to a GS1 Company Prefix from GS1 Sweden, the <a href=\"https:\/\/gs1.se\/en\/guides\/how-to-guides\/generate-numbers-in-mygs1\/\">Generate number<\/a> service, which helps you to create <a href=\"https:\/\/gs1.se\/en\/standards-and-services\/global-trade-item-number-gtin\/\">GTIN<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/gs1.se\/en\/standards-and-services\/global-location-number-gln\/\">GLN,<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/gs1.se\/en\/standards-and-services\/serial-shipping-container-code-sscc\/\">\u00a0SSCC <\/a>and <a href=\"https:\/\/gs1.se\/en\/standards-and-services\/global-shipment-identification-number-gsin\/\">GSIN<\/a>, is included. The service provides the entire number, including the check digit.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n          <\/div>\n\n<\/section>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>K<\/strong> \u2013 is a check digit that you calculate using <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/gs1.se\/en\/standards-and-services\/check-digit-calculator\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-type=\"product\" data-id=\"7128\">the Check digi<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/gs1.se\/en\/standards-and-services\/check-digit-calculator\/\" data-type=\"product\" data-id=\"7128\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">t<\/a><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/gs1.se\/en\/standards-and-services\/check-digit-calculator\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-type=\"product\" data-id=\"7128\"> Calculator<\/a>. The check digit cannot be selected by yourself and must be calculated for each new location number you create.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you have a GS1 Company prefix that is 12 digits long (also known as single numbers), you only need to use the calculator as in the example above to calculate the check digit. You use the 12 digits that you received when ordering single numbers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Finished! Now you&#8217;re ready to start using your unique GLN with business partners around the world.
