Identification of fruit and vegetables<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

There are two ways to identify fruit and vegetables, the PLU or the GTIN<\/a> which is a GS1 item number. In Sweden, PLU numbers are mostly used today, but more actors are looking at the possibility of numbering fruit and vegetables with GTIN instead. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The PLU number identifies a certain group of items, such as an apple variety, rather than the origin of the specific apple. The product is placed on a scale at the check out register, the cashier enters the PLU code manually, and the price is registered on the receipt. GS1 Sweden has the administrative responsibility for PLU codes in Sweden.<\/p>\n\n\n
